Established in 1919, Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club is a premier seasonal club in the heart of cottage country, two hours north of Toronto in Port Carling, Ontario.  The course was originally designed by renowned architect Stanley Thompson which is thought to be his first solo course.  The Club is currently using the services of Carrick Design for the recent and upcoming renovation work.

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent job is a full-time, year round position that offers a competitive compensation package.

Position to be Filled: Assistant Superintendent

Position Description:

Primary Duties:

  • Assist Superintendent in the day to day operations of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, and personnel.
  • Help to hire/train/schedule golf course operations staff.
  • Promote the “Team” culture amongst staff, and other departments.
  • Assist in conducting employee performance evaluations and exercising disciplinary action.
  • Assists in providing technical, operational and safety training for employees.
  • Participates in the construction and maintenance of the course and grounds.
  • Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to members.
  • Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club's grounds in compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.

 

Qualifications:

  • Turf Degree or diploma from a recognized university or college.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years golf course experience.
  • Landscape Exterminator’s License.
  • High standards of excellence and attention to detail.
  • Know-how in maintaining state of the art irrigation systems.
  • Willingness to work longer hours when necessary.
  • Familiarity of the game of golf and how it relates to course maintenance and the members.
  • Awareness and appreciation of safe working and environmental practices.
  • Chainsaw and CPR/first aid certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license.
